1. Put the butter, golden syrup and sugar in a saucepan and stir over a low heat until everything is dissolved
2. Remove from the heat and stir in the oats
3. Chop up the dried fruit and stir in
4. Press mixture into a baking tin (a 20cm sandwich tin works well)
5. Bake in the oven for 20-25 mins at gas mark 4
6. Leave to cool in tin, cut into slices and eat!
Told you it was easy! This is actually a recipe I learnt at school when I was about 11 that I have slowly adapted along the way. Feel free to play around with the sugar/golden syrup quantities a bit to get them how you like them.

- Adding different fruits: raisins and dried apple also work really well
- Using chocolate chips
- Eating as a quick (but sweet) breakfast bar
